If you’re a new virtual assistant, you might be finding yourself feeling pretty overwhelmed when it comes to marketing your business.

Lots of virtual assistants start their businesses because they have amazing skills to offer the world, but they didn’t realize how much marketing and sales knowledge comes into play in order to build a thriving business.

My guest on the podcast this week is Dani Stratmann, and I really wanted you guys to meet her because she has an incredible talent for breaking down pretty complex marketing concepts into digestible, actionable strategies. 

Let me tell you a little bit about Dani: 

Dani is a Marketing Coach and Email Marketing Consultant for online coaches and service-based providers. She has been building email marketing and sales funnels for various companies for the last five years. Dani is passionate about helping online entrepreneurs simplify their marketing and sales strategy for maximum profit. When not working, you can find her watching Food Network, playing with her dog, Bruce, or binging a show on Netflix. 

Dani’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Dani’s dad was an entrepreneur so she grew up seeing him run his own show and make his own way, but she wasn’t necessarily drawn to entrepreneurship early on. In fact, she always imagined herself in a corporate job.

 Dani knew since high school that marketing was the career for her! After graduating from college, Dani had a few sales jobs and then got her first job in marketing. She immersed herself in email marketing and learned how to generate leads from sales funnels.

 She is still working in her corporate job and loves it, but she knows she’d love a little more freedom eventually.

Balancing a Corporate Job with Her Side Hustle 

Dani is a “go, go, go” person and found that she had a lot of time in the evenings, that she decided to fill with her online business.

She usually gets home from work around 5, spends some time with her dog, and then works on her business for about 2 hours. Lots of people are surprised by how little time she spends in her business and still be able to grow. 

That is why Dani loves email marketing and sales funnels! Focusing a lot on simplifying her marketing has allowed her to grow her business, without taking up too much of her time.

Email Marketing Tips for Virtual Assistants 

For virtual assistants that want to offer email marketing as a service - make sure to do research on the different platforms available. For basic email funnels that connect to landing pages, you might not need the more complicated platforms. Dani recommends Convertkit for people that are new to email marketing.  

She also encourages us to look at email marketing kind of like social media. You can’t just send random emails and expect to build community with your audience. Having consistency and strategy is key!

How Online Service Providers Should Use Email Marketing 

For virtual assistants, Dani has realized that the best way to use an email list is to upsell and cross-sell to your current clients.

Personal conversations on social media are more effective for the initial sale, but you can use your email marketing to sell passive products and nurture the relationship.
