We have the perfect person on the podcast today to talk to us about the very important subject of branding. Let me introduce you to Marina Pomar:

Marina is a Graphic + Web Designer & Biz Coach. She is passionate about creating beautiful brands and websites and helping VAs start their own web design business so that they can scale their VA biz and get booked out consistently.

Marina’s own journey is a testament to what she teaches - she went from being a VA and having only one client to getting booked out consistently within 3 months as a Graphic + Web Designer.

As a practicing web designer herself, Marina believes that anyone who enjoys a good challenge, is not easily frustrated and loves problem-solving can be a web designer with the right training and strategies to create a web design business that brings $3k+ months.

Her favorite part of being a Web Designer is getting to create beautiful and strategic designs for her clients and teaching all her knowledge and expertise to her coaching clients. Marina loves seeing her clients achieve the business of their dreams while still having fun building it!

When she isn’t working you’ll find her booking her next travel adventure, on a walk with her fiancé and new puppy Alfie or enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate in a café.

Marina’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Marina is originally from Spain, but she’s based in the UK. She learned English during her stay in a small town in Texas.

Marina helps creative entrepreneurs build profitable businesses by supporting them with their brands and websites. She has also started mentoring virtual assistants to scale their businesses by offering web design as a service.

A little more than a year ago, Marina felt like she was living on auto-pilot in her 9-5. She came across a business coach on Instagram who was offering a group program to help new entrepreneurs find what they were good at and start offering it as a service.

Marina started working as a virtual assistant, then in May she started referring to herself as a graphic and web designer, and everything changed! She started working harder and showing up everyday and before she knew it, she was fully booked out!

How Choosing a Specialty Has Helped Marina Find Fulfillment

Many virtual assistants have a fear of specializing, but as Marina shares you have so much to gain by focusing on a specialty.

Not only did finding a specialty increase her income, Marina has also found that because she loves creating websites and brand boards for her clients so much, time flies when she is working!

What Does Branding Mean for a Virtual Assistant?

As Marina explains, branding means so much more than choosing colors and fonts. Branding is an abstract term, that Marina defines as the way a business shows up on and offline. It’s a combination of three different aspects including your values, your messaging, and your visuals.

Website Basics for Virtual Assistants

As virtual assistants, Marina believes that it is necessary to have a website. Because you’re supporting other business owners, a website allows you to build trust and show that you’re established.

She encourages virtual assistants to have 4 basic pages on a website including your homepage, a service page, an about me page, and a contact page. She also recommends using Squarespace to create a professional-looking website without the technical knowledge required of Wordpress.
