I’ll be honest - before I recorded this episode with Brandi Mowles I was completely intimidated and mystified by LinkedIn. I wasn’t sure if virtual assistants had a place on that platform and I had no idea how to set up my profile to make me stand out to my ideal clients.

Luckily, Brandi has totally cleared up for me. And I now know that LinkedIn is an under-utilized and highly effective platform for service providers like us.

This episode is filled with so much great advice, so I want to dive right in by introducing you to Brandi Mowles, my guest on the podcast today and our guest expert for The Support Squad Membership Community in December.

As a social media VA turned Facebook ad and sales funnel strategist, Brandi Mowles has grown her income from $0 to 6-figures in just 10 months. In addition to running the service-based portion of her business, Brandi also helps other service-based businesses scale to 5-figure months so they can enjoy the same financial and life-freedom that she has. When she isn't creating a killer Facebook ad or teaching other service-based businesses how to scale, you can find Brandi hanging out with her husband and 14-month old daughter.

I want to go ahead and encourage now to grab Brandi’s free gift for Support Squad listeners, which is a training on how to optimize and brand your LinkedIn profile. I totally watched the training and finally got my LinkedIn in order, and I’m sure you’ll want to do the same after you hear what Brandi has to share. So lets get started!

Brandi’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Brandi left her previous career after her daughter was born and decided to give mom-blogging a try. One night, she was sitting with her cranky 4-month old baby and realized that blogging was not the right path for her.

She heard about being a virtual assistant - and thought that it was just someone who sent out postcards because that was all that she’d hired virtual assistants to do in the past. She eventually watched a training and learned that she could do pretty much anything virtually! Initially, she was drawn to email marketing and social media management.

Then, in January 2019, Brandi made the transition into Facebook ads.

She started ignoring the noisy advice from others, focused on what was working, and within 10 months she scaled her business to six-figures. 15 months in the online space, she now has a multiple six-figure business!

Brandi credits truly understanding her marketing and drowning out the advice of others with her fast success. Once she simplified her business and focused on what mattered most, everything started falling into place.

Why Virtual Assistants Should Connect with Their Local Market on LinkedIn

For me personally, I have never had a corporate job and definitely didn’t follow the traditional career trajectory. I’ve always thought of LinkedIn as being a platform for more “professional” people.

As Brandi explains, LinkedIn can be an amazing tool for anyone, especially virtual assistants!

There are a few reasons that Brandi encourages VAs to consider using LinkedIn to connect with the local small-business market:

  • Facebook groups can be full of competition! On LinkedIn, it’s easy to stand out and get noticed by your ideal client.

  • Local brick-and-mortar businesses usually have a set marketing budget that they can use to hire a virtual assistant. This isn’t always the case with online entrepreneurs!

  • Only 3% of people on LinkedIn are posting on a regular basis. This means that it’s much more likely that your posts will get seen on LinkedIn than on Facebook and Instagram.
