What if I told you that the secret to success was having fun? It’s something I believe in wholeheartedly, which is why I had to have Jessa Glover on the podcast!

I have never seen someone make the online service provider life look so fun, so easy, and even (dare I say it?) glamorous and sexy! In this episode of The Support Squad: A Podcast for Virtual Assistants, Jessa shares her entrepreneurial journey and how bringing fun into her business has helped her get seen and hired by high-profile clients.

Jessa’s Entrepreneurial Journey

Jessa was working as an executive assistant to the vice president of a wholesale company doing so many things. She was traveling a lot to attend trade shows, handling communications, hiring and firing, and so much more.

During this time, Jessa had just bought a home and was supporting her family as a single mom. She was not at all prepared for what came next...

On a Thursday, Jessa’s employer said to her “Tomorrow’s our last day. We’re closing the doors.”

After she got the news, she packed up her car and her one year old and headed to Florida. She sat on the beach for two days, and several things became very clear to her:

  • She knew she had awesome skills.
  • She knew she wanted to work from home.
  • And she knew there was no real stability in working for someone else.

“I always say, you break down or you break through.” Jessa says. And obviously, she broke through.

She did some digging on the internet and the term “virtual assistant” came up. *cue angels singing*

Jessa started putting herself out there online, and within 6 months she had replaced and doubled her corporate salary.

In November of last year, Jessa niched down. Through the guidance of her client and mentor, she was able to get clear on her gifts and how she could be of service to her ideal client.

From there: her business exploded. Jessa’s implementation services are now completely booked out and she’s begun to share her wisdom as a coach.

“I’ll have what she’s having…”

If you’re not following Jessa on Instagram, stop what you’re doing and follow her right now! I have never seen anyone make systems and strategy look as fun as Jessa does.

And that idea of fun is central to Jessa’s business. As often as she can, she makes things simple, fun, and easy. Like she says “If it’s not easy and it’s not fun, I’m probably not going to do it.”

Jessa and I have both seen that our income is directly proportional to the amount of fun that we’re having in our business. So try to find the joy wherever you can!

How to Get Seen by High Profile Clients

At the beginning of her virtual assistant journey, Jessa committed to spending an hour a day showing up online in the places where she knew she would be seen by her ideal client. (She sometimes broke this up into 15-20 minute chunks.)

At first, Jessa was spending time on LinkedIn, but she found that it wasn’t a great fit for her and her business. Like she says “It doesn’t matter where you show up, it just matters that you show up.”
