Do you really NEED a website in order to get clients?

Creating a website is where many virtual assistants get frozen in their tracks...and the truth is, it’s not even a necessary thing to have early on in your business!

On today’s episode of The Support Squad, I’m sharing why you don’t really need a website, and where you should put your focus instead!

Tune in to hear:

  • How I actually NEVER had a website for my VA services
  • The top 3 reasons that you don’t need a website right now
  • What strategies you should be focusing on instead of building a website
  • How to know when you are ready to build your website

My experience

When I was first getting started in my virtual assistant business, I didn't know what I was doing at all. I didn't know that I needed a website.

All I knew was my friend told me to go on Upwork.com and start looking for virtual assistant jobs. Before long I was completely booked out with clients I found on Upwork and social media, which lead to a web of referrals.

I have never had a website for my virtual assistant services. I didn't even create a website until I started coaching virtual assistants.

So yes, it is definitely possible to find clients without a website!

3 Reasons You Don’t Need a Website Right Now

  • It’s too time consuming when you should be focused on revenue generating activities - Unless you are an experienced web designer, you probably don't have a lot of experience building a website.  They can take so much time to create!
  • New clients won’t be able to find you through your website - Unless you're an SEO genius, (and even if you are, it takes months for your website to start to show up in Google search results), people aren’t going to be randomly coming across your website. It’s not a good strategy for bringing new people into your business.
  • Your business will change too much in the first year - I see this happen all the time. People make their websites and then they end up overhauling it two or three times over the course of the year as their business changes and evolves. A website takes a lot more labor to change than a social media profile, so it shouldn’t be your main focus until you have more clarity in your business.

Strategies you should be focusing on instead of building a website

  1. Choosing 1-2 social media platforms
  2. Optimizing them
  3. Creating content that addresses your ideal clients’ pain points
  4. Networking daily!

How to know when you are ready to build your website

  • You have a clear signature service.
  • You have social media content that you can repurpose into a blog.
  • You’ve streamlined and automated your client experience.
