 Highlights from this episode:

On the value of email marketing:

“Email is something that you own that is super personal and super intimate. You can create this very unique 1:1 relationship with your clients and your audience. Also thinking financially, the return on investment for an email marketing campaign is $43 for every $1 spent. That is a huge, huge return on investment.”

On the intimacy of email marketing:

“Social media is like speed dating and email marketing is like an intimate five-star dinner date for two. That visual that you gave about “Hey, look at me!” on social media is very much like a speed dating thing. You're trying to get the attention of all these different people. But then when you have email, it's just you and that person in their inbox. They’re inviting you into their inbox to create this really special relationship with them.

And a funny fact is that 42% of people check their email while on the toilet in the morning. So I feel like if they're inviting you into that personal space then they must really, really, really want to form a relationship with you.”

On creating click-worthy subject lines:

“It's the thing that draws your attention to whatever that piece of copy is. You have to get them in first and then you keep them going. You just want to be conversational., I actually go back through my text messages with my best friend when I sit down to write my email and I'm like, alright, let me see like little pieces and moments that I can pull.”
